THE FLIES formed in 2003 in a very loose and incremental way when production team, The Insects (Bob Locke and Tim Norfolk) joined forces with vocalist/musician Sean Cook. Cook had been a key player in Spiritualized as well as Lupine Howl and currently plays with Elizabeth Fraser and Massive Attack. The Insects are highly regarded as Emmy award winning soundtrack writers for BBC natural history documentaries, films such as “Creep” and “Owning Mahoney”, and TV series such as ‘Wire In The Blood”. They play the Water Rats on Wednesday 3rd September.
Legendary DAVID BOWIE bandmates, producer/bass player TONY VISCONTI and drummer WOODY WOODMANSEY, are performing together for the first time since 1971 and will be joined by Woody’s stellar supergroup HOLY HOLY as they perform David Bowie’s ‘The Man Who Sold The World'. Fronting the band is Glenn Gregory of Heaven 17 and on saxophone and guitars is Spandau Ballet’s Steve Norman. They play The Garage in London on Wednesday 17th September and the O2 Academy in Sheffield on Thursday 18th September.
ERDAL KIZILCAY is one of most proficient pop and rock musicians of his generation. He recorded, toured and co-wrote with David Bowie for 13 years, and has worked with many great artists including Iggy Pop, Queen, Tina Turner and Jacques Dutronc. After a series of successful gigs in London over the last year, Erdal returns from his Swiss home to play a set of Bowie and Iggy songs with his band. He plays The Borderline on Wednesday 1st October.
Formed in Blackpool by brothers Larry and Vin Cassidy in 1978, SECTION 25 were initially mentored by Joy Division, and went on to record four albums for Factory Records between 1980 and 1986. They play 229 The Venue on Saturday 8th November.
